Two charged in 2022 fatal drive-by shooting at Gainesville mobile home park

Two men have been charged in connection with the 2022 fatal drive-by shooting of a 16-year-old girl in a mobile home park off Southwest Archer Road in Gainesville, according to a release from the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.

Geremy Navarro and Nathaniel Kendrick have both been charged with first-degree premeditated murder in the death of 16-year-old ZhaneåüÃÄÖ±²¥™ Sanders. Both men are currently being held at the Marion County Jail.

åüÃÄÖ±²¥œThis is the first step of justice for ZhaneåüÃÄÖ±²¥™ and her family. I commend our detectives and partner agencies for their continuous pursuit of justice for the victims," Sheriff Emery Gainey said in the release.

According to the release, on June 5, 2022, at about 2:17 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting at Palms of Archer, 7117 SW Archer Road. Deputies arrived and discovered a drive-by shooting had occurred and found one victim, later identified as Sanders. who was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Sanders was from North Carolina and was in the area visiting family for a high school graduation celebration. Officials believe she may have been an innocent bystander.

Navarro, one of the two suspects in the case, is currently serving a life sentence after being convicted on Nov. 22 in the January 2022 murder of Ferron Marquise Williams in Ocala.
